Sewing pants and school

If you have read my blog you know my little boy has autism.  He has a sensitivity issue with the feel of clothing.  I have to make his pants for him and use a very soft material.  Since he has grown 3 inches over the summer, I have to make all new pants before the school year begins.  I wasn't the best seamstress before having my son, and it still isn't one of my favorite activities.  But I have figure out the best material and how to make them look nice on him, so he isn't getting made fun of at school.

He will be in second grade and during the time at school the last two year, kids say the cruelest things and the name calling is very hurtful.  Adam hates school and cries every morning.  He is very smart and gets good grades, but doesn't understand the grading system.  Getting an A is the same as a F in for him, it's just a letter.  Thankfully he never gets Fs. 

I'm stressing more this school year then the last two, I'm hoping for a teacher who knows about autism.  Last year the teacher isn't understand it and didn't want to.  He wouldn't talk with any of the children with autism.  Thank goodness they all have an AS room too!! 

Every year he goes to school and then he comes home and I homeschool him the things they say he cannot or wouldn't learn there.  I do not want him behind or failing.  I have set up an area and have been getting everything ready for him and making and laminating tons of things.  He is a hands on learner and needs the extra stuff to help him understand.

Dr. Seuss poster

I've been making freebies to put on Teachers pay teachers the last two weeks.  With school starting soon I haven't got to far, but I'm trying to get all my posters made.  As I make them I will be sharing them with you.  I totally love Dr. Seuss and I love this poster!!!  My son loves all of the books too.  On his seventh birthday we through him a huge Dr. Seuss party, so I have tons of wall items.  I will be using them this year and I am sure they will be a huge hit!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Getting ready for the school year to begin

I have been so busy getting ready for the school year to begin, I have had time to think!  I'm in the middle of making monthly calendars.  I want them all to have different themes, September I'm doing The three little pigs.  It is coming out so cute and I'm adding activities and games to go along with the themes.  There is so much fun things to add with them.  It's going to be a fun year!!!

I have been working on changing my blog to my own design and I am loving it!!! I think it is looking cute and cannot wait until I'm finished!!! I hope everyone is loving it!

Getting ready for the new school year

I have been very busy getting things ready for Adam and school. I have a lot of charts, forms and social stories to write up and make for him. I am getting his reward charts and box together, a calming box and social story and writing the longest letter to his new teacher!!! He will have this AS teacher from second grade until sixth, so I'm hope they get along and Adam enjoys school!!!

Getting ready for a family picnic

I'm getting the house ready to have all the relatives over tomorrow.  I love having the parties at my home and I enjoy having all my family over.  We always have a great time!!!  This year it's colder then usual so I will be making lots if warm foods!!!!

What a great day!!

Today was the first time my son has followed the instruction in and made something out of Legos!!!! Usually he has me make it and then he takes it apart.  Haha fun - not!! But he worked all day and made batman, hulk, the joker and some alien Lego stuff!!! I'm so proud of him!

Sitting at the er

Poor little Adam has the flu. :(. Hopefully they can make him feel a little better!!! He has missed school yesterday and today. Hoping he is better for Thursday because they are having a valentines party and I don't want him to miss it!!

Storytown worksheets

I have been working on spelling worksheets that I am going to share with you all!!  My son is in first grade and all of the spelling sheets will be made for Harcourt school storytown.  I hope everyone loves them and are able to use them for their first grade class.  I think homeschoolers would love them too.  My son is in public school, but he needs manipulates and hands on items to learn easier and quicker.  I have made a lot of items for the teachers and thought it would be nice to share for other parents and teachers who would love to use them for kids who need extra help.

Christmas party

Went to my husband's aunt and uncle's house last night for a Christmas party :). Great food, great company and just a great time!!! I loved my present card stock and a gift card to michael's!!!!

Homemade tree ornaments

Adam and I made homemade tree ornaments for all his teachers, aides and office staff! Everyone loved them and they were so easy to make!

hurricane Sandy

I am a little nervous about the winds coming!!  I am hoping it calms down soon and passes by us with no damage to anyone's homes.  They are saying it should be really bad in PA starting tomorrow.  I have everything ready ~ flashlights, batteries, water, and food.  Praying for everything to be ok for us and for everywhere it has passed along the way.
